From the desk of the President
20-03-2026
Fellow Tomcat lovers, Ham Tallent here posting from Virginia Beach, Virginia. I recently assumed the role of President of the F-14 Tomcat Association from the most capable Mike “Rabies” Rabens and wish to convey a couple of Items.
First, don’t forget the Tomcat reunion here in Virginia Beach on 17-20 September this year. We have updated our website and registration instructions can be found there. We REALLY hope you can come and help us celebrate the greatest fighter of all time! Second, we need your help.
The good folks of WaKeeney, Kansas (pop.1766) thought they would celebrate the fighter by procuring an F14 and building a memorial around it. They did just that and it now sits alongside I-70 just outside of town. However, a hailstorm badly damaged the airplane. We would like to mount an effort to rescue our beloved jet and I am asking for volunteers with corrosion experience to join me in WaKeeney in May.
Exact dates to be determined but please check your schedules and see if it is possible. We think four man teams can get this accomplished in two weeks. We have the primer, paint, and much of the other equipment we need. But we need the help. Text me at 619-519-4797 if you think you might be able to help, then we can put a smooth plan together. I believe that we can fund your food and lodging.
